Great Lakes Salmon History
In 1964, Dr. Howard Tanner first introduced Pacific Salmon to Lake Michigan to create a world class fishery for recreational anglers to pursue. With abundant baitfish populations and a strong recreational fishing tradition in the region, it became the single greatest story of fisheries management around the world…and remains so to this day some 50 years later.
